In our ‘Journey to Civility’ Short Story Writing Competition, we invite budding writers to create inspirational short stories that promote the essence of good moral characteristics.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of 1000,000 PKR and the next top 10 entries will receive prize money of 100,000 PKR each. The winning stories may be used for an educational project that inspires change in society. This competition is a platform to present your talent and contribute to a world of positivity.

• We all need to exercise responsibility and sensitivity in our conduct with each other. This is the hallmark of all civilised societies.
• We recognise that human dignity is a fundamental right and the desecration of this through insult, denigration or humiliation is morally and ethically wrong.
• Reckless and malicious expressions towards any person or peoples may lead to vilification and demonisation.
• Reckless use of freedom of speech can lead to social chaos. To avoid the spread of hatred, animosity, and fuelling divisions, those of us involved in politics, education, media, and entertainment have a greater role in promoting social responsibility.
• Heated emotions in any debate or argument must be self-managed through good manners and decency.
• Our interdependence is the rule and not the exception. Understanding each other’s sensitivities through sincere effort will lead to sustainable civility and harmonious existence.

By entering the Global Civility ‘Journey to Civility’ Short Story Writing Competition, you agree to accept and be bound by the following terms and conditions. All entry instructions form part of the terms and conditions.

প্রবেশের প্রয়োজনীয়তা

Entrants must be 15 years or over.
Entrants must sign the Declaration of Global Civility.
অংশগ্রহণকারীরা সম্পূর্ণ বিনামূল্যে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবে এবং কোন অর্থের প্রয়োজন হবে না।
Entries can be in English or Urdu language.
Entry to the competition is online only.
You may only submit one story per entry form.
You may submit multiple entries.
আপনার ছোট গল্পটি অবশ্যই Word বা Text ডকুমেন্ট ফরম্যাটে অনলাইন এন্ট্রি ফর্মে সংযুক্ত করতে হবে।
অনলাইনের মাধ্যমেই ছোট গল্প জমা দিতে হবে সেই সাথে সকল প্রয়োজনীয় তথ্য পূরণ করতে হবে।
The closing date for Pakistan is 31st October 2025 and entries will be accepted up to 11pm (BST) on that date.
The closing date for Bangladesh, India and Indonesia is 31st December 2025 and entries will be accepted up to 11pm (BST) on that date.
Although the competition is advertised to students, you do not have to be a student to enter.
Entrants from all writing backgrounds and experience can enter including published, self-published or non-published authors.
Entry topics must be chosen from the approved list of topics: Global Civility Values list.
Before making a submission, you must read and adhere to the Journey to Civility – Story Writing Brief.

Entries will be evaluated based on adherence to approved topic list, adherence to the story writing brief, creativity, appropriateness of theme, character development, and overall impact.
বিচারকদের যে কোন সিদ্ধান্ত দেওয়ার অধিকার সংরক্ষিত রয়েছে এমনকি পুরস্কার দেওয়া অথবা না দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত সংরক্ষিত রয়েছে।

Categories and Word Counts

ক্যাটাগরি ১ গল্পটি অবশ্যই ৫-৭ বছর বয়সের শিশুদের উপযোগী হতে হবে এবং শব্দ সংখ্যা ২০০০ থেকে ৪০০০ এর মধ্যে হতে হবে।
ক্যাটাগরি ২ গল্পটি অবশ্যই ৭-১০ বছর বয়সের শিশুদের উপযোগী হতে হবে এবং শব্দ সংখ্যা ২০০০ থেকে ৫০০০ এর মধ্যে হতে হবে।
ক্যাটাগরি ২ গল্পটি অবশ্যই ৭-১০ বছর বয়সের শিশুদের উপযোগী হতে হবে এবং শব্দ সংখ্যা ২০০০ থেকে ৫০০০ এর মধ্যে হতে হবে।

কপিরাইট এবং মেধাস্বত্ব:

সমস্ত লেখা লেখকের নিজস্ব মৌলিক কাজ হতে হবে। অন্য কারো লেখা, আংশিক বা অনুবাদ হিসেবে জমা দেওয়া যাবে না। গল্পটি শুধুমাত্র একজন লেখকের হতে হবে। সহ-লেখক যুক্ত গল্প গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়।
Use of any Artificial Intelligence technology is restricted to spelling, punctuation and grammar checking programmes only. / Any use of Artificial Intelligence programmes to generate text within the story must be highlighted and identified.
