I, the undersigned, subscribe to the following Code of Conduct relating to Global Civility:
- We all need to exercise responsibility and sensitivity in our conduct with each other. This is the hallmark of all civilised societies.
- We recognise that human dignity is a fundamental right and the desecration of this through insult, denigration or humiliation is morally and ethically wrong.
- Reckless and malicious expressions towards any person or peoples may lead to vilification and demonisation.
- Reckless use of freedom of speech can lead to social chaos. To avoid the spread of hatred, animosity, and fuelling divisions, those of us involved in politics, education, media, and entertainment have a greater role in promoting social responsibility.
- Heated emotions in any debate or argument must be self-managed through good manners and decency.
Our interdependence is the rule and not the exception. Understanding each other’s sensitivities through sincere effort will lead to sustainable civility and harmonious existence.

- children and adults,
- individuals and institutions,
- governments and communities,
- public officials and businesspeople,
- academics and lay people,
- scientists and artists,
