La campa\u00f1a de Global Civility se fund\u00f3 en 2005 por el renombrado fil\u00e1ntropo musulm\u00e1n, Shaykh Faizul Aqtab Siddiqi, quien ha estado al frente de la respuesta intelectual contra la denigraci\u00f3n del Santo Profeta Mahoma \ufdfa en algunos medios de comunicaci\u00f3n occidentales, al mismo tiempo que ha proporcionado la voz de la raz\u00f3n a los 1.8 mil millones de musulmanes en todo el mundo. Centrada en el di\u00e1logo pac\u00edfico y no en la confrontaci\u00f3n, la campa\u00f1a se dise\u00f1\u00f3 para crear un terreno com\u00fan entre posiciones que, de otro modo, estar\u00edan polarizadas. La campa\u00f1a defiende la libertad de expresi\u00f3n como un derecho y privilegio, respetando la santidad de las cosas que otros aprecian.\u00a0<\/div>

La campa\u00f1a de Global Civility pretende canalizar lo que puede ser un polvor\u00edn de ira y frustraci\u00f3n hacia un di\u00e1logo constructivo que hiciera hincapi\u00e9 en la necesidad de la cohesi\u00f3n social y el respeto por las creencias y opiniones de los dem\u00e1s. De este modo, la campa\u00f1a articula la necesidad de autocontrol y responsabilidad como base para discrepar de forma agradable como piedra angular de la interacci\u00f3n y del comportamiento civil.<\/span><\/div>

Hoy en d\u00eda, la campa\u00f1a es una iniciativa mundial, que invita a la humanidad, en toda su diversidad y color, a formar parte de un importante movimiento de cambio.
